Where the difference comes from
Labour and premises. Dentistry is a labour-heavy service delivered from expensive rooms. Both inputs cost less in Turkey than in the UK, and that flows straight into the chair price.
Laboratory work. Crowns, veneers and bridges are made in labs. Turkish clinics frequently run labs in-house, which removes both a margin and a delay.
The currency. A large share of Turkish clinic costs are in lira while a large share of their international revenue is in euros, sterling or dollars. Sustained lira weakness widens the gap for foreign patients independently of anything clinical.
Volume and specialisation. Clinics built around international patients run high throughput on a narrow set of procedures, with scheduling and logistics designed for people who arrive with a fixed number of days.
Policy. Health tourism is an explicit Turkish export sector with a licensing regime for facilities treating international patients. That is a reason for capacity and marketing intensity as much as it is a quality signal.
What the gap does not tell you
It says nothing about a specific clinic. Turkey has clinics operating at a standard equal to anywhere and clinics that are marketing operations with a chair. The price level is a market property; quality is a clinic property, and the second does not follow from the first.
It also says nothing about whether the work suits you. Aggressive treatment plans — crowning healthy teeth to change their appearance, for instance — are a real criticism of parts of this market, and the decision about what treatment you need should be made before you go shopping for where to have it.
